Albert, approximate age 57, bushy mustache, slow, slow speaker, dishoveled appearance. His first words to me:
Albert: You look like you could be on Broadway.
Me: Wow! Thanks, I have never had that compliment before.
Albert: You have a very...um...I mean with your hair (motioning wisps of hair)...you just....um....I don't know how to describe it....Not too many people look like you!
Me: Thanks?
20 minutes later....
Albert: I mean, she (pointing to Sister Kristen Oaks (Dallin's wife) looks like the first lady.
Me: Michelle Obama?
Albert: No...the
Me: Yes, she does look like Laura Bush.
Albert: Yeah! But you, you don't look like anyone!
I think it is suppose to be a compliment??
Background:
Wen-Long Wang AKA "Sasha", approximate age 46, Asian (in case you couldn't infer from the name). I had been looking back at another man that was behind Sasha (several times) and the last time, I noticed Sasha's seductive eyes...
After the closing prayer...
Sasha: Hi. I noticed you at the dance. I really wanted to ask you to dance, but you were always occupied and then I couldn't find you (note: he said some other things, but I could only decipher this much)
Me: Oh, yeah?
Sasha: And then I saw you sitting here and I saw you laugh silently with your friends.
Me: Oh.
Sasha: I really like your hair....it's just...one of a kind.
Me: Oh, yeah, it is kind of crazy!
Sasha: No, not crazy, beautiful. You must be the only one with this color in the room.
Me: No, I saw more red-heads.
Sasha: Well, a lot of you ladies look pretty from behind, but you, you turn around and your face...it's like no others!
Me: Thanks?
I don't even know how to end this post...THAT's how awkward it was!

Thank you for sharing. Oh the fun things singles endure. Boys are awkward, men are awkward...do they teach them that in school or do they come by it naturally? Probably naturally, but seriously, maybe someone could teach them to be less...awkward:)

Fabulous!! That is all I have to say about Albert, my favorite speed dating partner. Is it just me, or was that not such a fantastic conference?!
You and my sister need to start a support group, called "Single people are ok, except those who are not." Your quotes are hilarious, and you get major points for going to the conference and finding hilarity in the awkwardness.

Here's the thing...at the very least you made me laugh out loud at least 3 or 4 times from this post of your horrible day of endurance through the conference. So at least you accomplished SOMETHING!
Oh you poor thing, you had some good responses, I would have REALLY struggled with how to respond to the awkwardness!

My brother said that the conferences in California are good but a lot of the other ones are pretty bad.
