Fellow RN: (whispering) Janelle? What is that? (pointing to the ring on my thumb)
janelle: a ring...
Fellow RN: Why do you have it on?
janelle: I thought it looked cute...(getting a little uncomfortable)
Fellow RN: But Janelle...that means you're a lesbian...and you aren't a lesbian, right??
janelle: no, no...no, I'm not....but thanks for the warning...
I still think I'll continue to wear it...stick it to the man!

I'm around lesbians and gay men daily in NYC and I've never heard that before. I'll ask at work tomorrow, but I seriously think that lady is extra homophobic. For instance, my mother will not wear purple because she doesn't want people to think she's gay. I think that lady is being overly cautious. Even if it did mean that you were a lesbian, you should tell her that you wear your thumb ring with PRIDE! Viva the gays and Viva Clo Clo!
