the injury of injera...

So I decided to start an ethnic food club so that I have an excuse to try new fun foods.

For our first month we tried Ethiopian...it was an adventure.

We pulled into this hole in the wall where the only cars in the parking lot were taxi cabs (we figured it was authenic for that reason alone...if its good enough for the natives, it's good enough for us).

All four entrees were served on two giNORMous pancake type breads called injera. The around the injera are "wots" dipping sauces that are seasoned. Then they serve whatever you order on top of the injera. There is no silverware, you just tear off some injera and eat the meat, sauces, and injera with your fingers.

So the first few bites were slap your grandma good. I loved the spices! But after a while the injera had this sour taste and it was time to be done with Ethiopia!

And now we know why Ethiopians are so skinny...the first few bites are phenomenal, but then you got to call it good. It's the magic power of the injera....

Unfortunately, the injera caused some havoc on a few stomachs...my African spirit protected me, but the sorrow some felt made me feel kind of bad...but it is a little funny! :)

Review: Glad I did it once....probably won't do it again, unless I feel real adventurous....
Here's to next month: German!

hmm, not something I would have been willing to try, and it probably would have messed with my stomach!

Sounds like a great idea! Wish I were near you to join - I'll have to see if I have enough daring friends to do that here. I've had Ethiopian once and wasn't too impressed either.
