The Office...

Remember my humble beginnings?
Well, a year later, after
3 "waterfalls" in my office (aka leaks)
53 comments all along the lines of "Is that a dead bird on your window"
and another
24 comments along the lines of "Girl, what is up with your office??"

I finally got enough clout to move down the hall into BHS 438!
Right next to the bathroom...which for some might be a disappointment, but I was overjoyed!

So over-joyed I decorated!
The theme was a place of refuge. Somewhere the students would like to come and hang out...

The perfect doorstop!
The quote board...
My windowsill flower garden.
Colorful but calming wall...
My thank you tree...

I love it!!
Really I do.
But now I can't get these guys out of it!!

SLC to LV

Josh moved to Las Vegas!
The anticipation was a little too much for me.
So, I thought this was in order!
It helped me center my energy!!

...I am loving every minute of seeing him everyday...

I've lost those sunglasses, the earrings, and the extensions....
but I still have him!!

Definitely worth the sacrifice!

extra coupons?

I know, I know! I haven't blogged forever, and when I finally do...it's to ask a favor or let you know of an amazing (do-able) volunteer opportunity! Rude...I know.
I take my students to the Henderson Senior Center for their community health rotation. I am amazed at all they do for the elderly. One of my favorite resources is the "Mini Mart". It was started by a lady who after she retired wanted to give back to the community. She started taking shopping orders from Seniors who were unable to get to the grocery store. The demand started getting higher and she wanted to find a way to help more people.
So she got people to donate coupons and started shopping with these coupons and then setting up a "grocery store" at the senior citizens and sells the items at the coupon price (the price she got them for. Ex. Toothpaste $0.50, Cereal $1.00, canned vegetables $0.35). It is perfect for low-income seniors, especially those who have difficulties finding transportation to a grocery store. The Seniors are so appreciative and just love it. If you are out of state, feel free to mail them to me, but don't feel like you have too. This is probably more for my local blog friends.

Karen, is not able to run the mini mart any longer and as a result coupon donations have decreased. If anyone has coupons (mailers, Sunday paper, anything) that they don't use if they wouldn't mind collecting them and giving them to me I will give them to the center. Leave a comment if you are interested or call me or just stop them by if you know where I live.

Also, they send expired coupons overseas and the military personel honor them. So if there are some that you didn't get to use, they would take those also.

Lastly, since Karen isn't able to shop anymore, they are looking for people who are willing to shop for the coupon deals. I thought this would be an easy way to volunteer in the community. As you could buy some mini mart items while you are doing your family grocery shopping.

If anyone is interested let me know and I will pass along the information.
Thanks guys! And one day, real soon. I am going to start blogging again. I'm almost ready! Swear!!

I still get nervous thinking about it....

I had the opportunity of speaking in Stake Conference last month.
The topic was whatever I felt inspired to speak on.
I really didn't want to speak on what I felt inspired to speak on.
But I did.
And I was nervous.
So nervous.
Nervous enough that my legs were shaking so hard it made my bum jiggle.
Lucky choir members behind me!
I wasn't nervous because of the setting, but because of the topic.
But it felt good to feel the Spirit so strong and know what needed to be said.
And I did know. And felt Him strong.

So, if you want to read it. It's here.
But it's long.
Just a warning.

Last night I spoke about Mary and a few lessons we can all learn from her.

And, now. No more speaking assignments for the rest of the year!! :)

LOL....I really don't like that abbreviation....

I LOVE it when I laugh out loud.
Sincerely, genuinely just laugh out loud.
By myself.
And then continue to laugh at random parts throughout the day
just thinking about it.
This happens a lot here and here.

Thanks, Katie
(not sure if I blog stalk you or not, but I get excited for your posts...)
