happy birthday Collette!!

Collette is definitely my older sister in everyway. I have always grown up wanting to do what she did and be "as cool" as she was. She has always looked out for me, even if she didn't/doesn't want to. It always matters what Collette thinks. I always remember her words to me....well not as good as she remembers, because, MAN, that girl has an amazing memory.

Collette allows me to be me. She has embraced my quirkiness and individualness (as evident in the "shawl" picture where it looks as though I am wearing nothing to church except a shawl and a yellow bag) and loves me for me. She is always working hard on self-improvement. She makes me feel like she is excited to talk to me, and I love it!!

Oh, and...she is am amazing Mom! She loves her kids so much and does so much to ensure their success in the future. She works hard for them, a definite example to me!!

I love you Collette!! Have a happy birthday...wish I was there!! :)

my new crunch....

Thanks to blog-stalking I have found my new "crunch". Don't know anything about him, don't know if he's single, pretty sure he's LDS....don't know why I am posting my obsession, but a girl can dream!!

so cool....

Have you ever met someone that is just the definition of cool? Everytime you are around them they just show you something, or wear something, or say something, or do something SO cool? Which really just makes you feel SO un-cool, but you still want to hang with them some more, because their coolness supersedes your unworthiness?

This is Brant Stewart for me! He's my AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL friend, Andrea's, cousin. We've hung out some, but we really got to hang out in China about 4 years ago. Everytime I am with him, he shows me some cool thing on the internet, while telling me some amazing story/adventure he just got done doing, all while just being really down to earth and fun. .....Seriously?!? Can I feel anymore of a dim-wit?!?

Well, here's the hilarious YouTube video he showed me, while I was coveting his sunglasses, while he was telling me about this cool documentary he was taking pictures for in Romania.....of course that was after his deployment in Afghanistan for his job for the US Department of Defense....

I don't think we can be friends anymore.....sigh! :)

Side note: I am not cool enough to figure out how to post the video on here...so here's the link. It's hilarious! I promise! Worth a look!!

Lovin' the yellow through all these years!

Today is my parent's 36th Wedding Anniversary!!! I love them both so much! I am so thankful for the example they have given me of love and relationships. In Relief Society yesterday the question was asked, "How can you as parents help your children keep the commandments when those around them aren't?" As I shared my response I realized how thankful I am for my wonderful parents. I said something along the lines of, "You need to reinforce the good of the gospel. I don't have kids of my own, but I remember when my parents went to the temple. I remember finding one or both of them kneeling in prayer. And I remember them allowing me to use my agency when I wanted to go to the mall with a friend on Sunday. When you see your parents doing the things they tell you to do, it really reinforces it. These actions have fortified and blessed my life than any other lessons they could've taught me". And it's true!
I love you Mom and Dad!! Thank you for everything, especially your example!

Aaaaaaamen!

Anne Morrow Lindbergh wrote of the need to “shed my Martha-like anxiety about many things, … shedding pride, … shedding hypocrisy in human relationships. What a rest that will be! The most exhausting thing in life, I have discovered,” she said, “is being insincere. That is why so much of social life is exhausting.” (Gift from the Sea, New York: Vintage Books, 1978, p. 32.)
I found this quote while reading an AMAZING talk by Neal A. Maxwell on putting off the natural man and selfishness and I couldn't agree more!! I loved it.

my saturday night....

(I don't know if I should be embarrassed or excited.....)
I am "studying" the Twilight series to refresh before the being release of book #4, August 2nd! And I made my favorite meal lately, a salmon and feta cheese salad. When I looked at the table I seriously got butterflies....and that is pathetic....
I REALLY need a good date...sigh....
